The Frenchwoman - Jeanne Mackin

I picked up this copyright 1989 hardback from a used bookstore.
The novel follows the life of main character, Julienne - from 1774 to 1836 - from Paris to Pennsylvania - from complete poverty to middle class - from grubby childhood to motherhood - from the French Revolution to American pioneer.
I loved it - completely enthralled with the historical references, revolution, food, clothing, culture, everything. The story of Julienne is easy to get caught up in - life, love, war, survival.
