I borrowed the hardback of the 19th in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series from the Library.
The 19th in the series starts out at a dance recital with several of the team included in the cast. Although, there is the somewhat normal/ordinary recital attendance, the normality does not last long. The supposed dead Mommie Dearest reaches out and makes a new kind of appearance. Richard is also back on scene, having seemingly worked out his personal issues and is ready to support the triumvirate, which is good timing, as Mommie Dearest is set to take over them and the rest of the vampires. This episode has Anita, Jean Claude, and the team not only working to save themselves the their immediate companions but, also basically the entire country and possibly the world.
I loved it - I'm not sure I can buy in to the saving the world thing yet but, I'll be reading it again in the next few days for that to sink in more but...you get a lot of character development in this one for several of the emotional characters, especially Richard and Asher, which really rounds out the cast well. Plus, you get some new info on a couple peripheral team members, as well as glimpses at even more newcomers. Warning for conservatives - another steaming one...with even more people combinations than usual.
